Patriots vs Seahawks: Super Bowl LX Rematch Opens Week 1

Seattle gets to raise the Super Bowl LX banner at Lumen Field, and then it has to play the team it took it from. The NFL didn't have to build the schedule this way. It chose to open the season with the exact rematch nobody in New England wanted to see again, on the same night the Seahawks get to relive the night they blew the Patriots out.

For Seattle this is closure with an audience. Banner ceremonies are usually a formality against whatever team the schedule maker felt like sacrificing. Instead they get the actual team, the actual coaching staff, the actual guys who watched that game go sideways from the wrong sideline. For New England this is either the fastest possible chance to answer for February or the worst possible way to start a new year, a loss relived in primetime before the first real snap of the season means anything.

None of that decides Monday night. The Patriots and Seahawks kick off Week 1 as a moneyline pick, and the storyline doesn't hand either side a result. It just makes the call feel like it matters more than a normal opener should.
